For years, it seemed like beyond doing some minor brow contouring, women just didn’t seem to care that much about getting the perfect brow. I literally have to beg and plead with my clients to let me help them with their brow design. It’s a passion of mine that I love to share with my clients. Nothing is more important on the face (besides a beautiful smile of course!) than your eyebrows! Thankfully, I think women are finally starting to realize this, as brow maintenance is all the rage right now. This makes me thrilled of course because I love getting the opportunity to take years off my clients’ faces with just a few brow consultations with me. But this is a question I hear all the time, “Freda, why can’t I get the perfect brow?” First things first, stop making these brow mistakes I see most often in my chair:
1. Put Down Your Tweezers
I know I’ve mentioned this here on my blog before, but it’s so important that I’m going to tell you all again, throw those tweezers away! Go ahead, you can do it! Reason being, if you are committed to a brow design with a professional you simply won’t need them anymore. After a few brow consultations, you’ll accomplish the right shape and you won’t need to tweeze every day. Did you know that most women are actually over-tweezing their brows? Think of all the time you will save not plucking away your brows! Let me fix them and make them look perfect for you.
2. If You Can’t Follow Tip #1, Follow Tip #2
I realize that throwing the tweezers away isn’t something all women can handle. It’s a big commitment. So, if you decide to keep tweezing, keep in mind that one hair makes all the difference! So tweeze with restraint. Try to stay away from the middle, because the bushier the better in the center. Remember that tweezing too far in can make the bottom of your nose look wider (and who wants that? Yikes!) When tweezing strays underneath the brow try to only grab the little guys closest to the lid, but if you have to move up towards your brow remember that the thickest area should be the first half of your brow. Do not tweeze through that first half, otherwise you may end up with what looks like a hook at the beginning of your brow.
3. Magnifying Mirrors are NOT Helpful
You may think that your magnifying mirror is helping you see all the hairs that need to come out, but trust me when I say they are not necessary. The naked eye cannot see the hairs those mirrors are showing you. Unfortunately, magnifying mirrors are likely part of the over-tweezing problem! I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything good come out of dressing brows using a magnifying mirror.
4. Work With a Professional
This is probably the most important piece of advice I can give to you. Brow design is an art that can take years to master, so please find a reputable brow specialist that can work with you to achieve the best possible look for your specific face shape. But make sure you have researched his or her work first! Don’t start an eyebrow design plan with one makeup artist and move to another. Stick with the same person for the long term. You will be so happy you did! Additionally, make sure you two have a design plan and stick to it.
Eyebrows are the picture from your face, they are there to support your features so it’s important they look wonderful! I would love to work with you on achieving your perfect brow design, so feel free to read through my recent blogs and watch my
brow tutorial to learn more about how I can help you achieve it. If you like what you see, give me a call! I’d love to partner with you so you can toss those tweezers and transform your brows!
