Concealer is one of our wonderful little makeup friends – from dark circles to a pesky pimple that we all get from time to time, concealer can become your best little makeup friend. And although the idea of concealer is to take attention away from something, all too often we see women using the product incorrectly – giving the reverse effect.
We want to help you use your concealer to get a smooth, natural look. Our clients deserve the best, and we are here to give it to you! Follow these simple steps and it will make a world of difference!
Hydration: Make sure your face is nice and moisturized. It’s a key component to flawless concealer application. We suggest a hydrating eye cream or a pre-makeup lotion that reduces puffiness. Also, don’t forget to drink lots of water throughout the day!
Evaluate Undertones: If you have bad under eye circles, try mixing some orange-toned concealer to cover those blue and purple hues.
Choose Color Carefully: There’s a big misconception that you should pick a tone that is a shade lighter than your skin tone – that’s just not true! Make sure you are finding a shade that’s as close to your current skin color as possible. The only time you should go lighter is in the undereye area if you need a brightened and lifted appearance. Come see us in the store and we will help to make sure you are using the right colors for your skin. It can be such a simple tweak that makes all the difference.
Foundation Always Comes First: Always put foundation on before your concealer. Reason being, the foundation will cover some of the problem areas so when you put on concealer you use less product. This also helps reduce the chance of getting a “cakey” appearance.
Finish with Powder: Set your makeup with a light skin-toned powder to give a bit more coverage or try a translucent one to set your look.
If you want more help on applying concealer correctly or want to know more about how you can cover those little imperfections that make you feel self-conscious, give us a call! We’d be happy to show you exactly how you can cover that pesky little problem instead of creating one!
