The cosmetics world is becoming more and more of a sought after industry. Thanks to celebrities like the Kardashian’s, women seemingly everywhere are looking to achieve the perfect makeup application at home. From YouTube tutorials to step-by-step instructions, women everywhere are seeking new ways to look finished, just as you would if you went to a professional makeup studio. Don’t let the excessive amount of information take the fun out of trying new looks and achieving the studio-style makeup you desire at home. That’s what I’m here for! It just takes learning a few tricks combined with a few hands-on consultations with us at Faces by Freda, and you will be looking and feeling as fabulous as ever.
Here are a few of Faces By Freda’s Makeup Tips and Tricks:
1. GETTING VOLUMINOUS LASHES AT HOME
Start with using your eyelash curler and gently pump it over the lashes 3-5 times, then release your lashes from the curler. Next step is using a lash thickener, start at the base of your lashes using a zig-zag motion, working your way to the tip of your lashes. Immediately after, repeat this same motion with mascara. After that, move to your other eye repeating the same process, using flexible formula mascara that will allow you to build the thickness in layers. We have great mascara to test out at our location. Expect that you may use two or three coats. The secret to great lashes is in the way you curl and apply the mascara.
2. START EYELINER ON THE OUTSIDE
Eyeliner should be used to enhance your natural eye shape. To create the perfect angle, start at the outer corner and line slightly beyond the corner of your eye. After you’ve done that, take it back across the upper lash line. Best to stop in for a quick review with us and then try at home on your own!
3. USE A FOUNDATION BRUSH
Using a foundation brush is crucial for a flawless finish. It deposits 100% of your product, which means your foundation will last even longer. If you’re going to invest in good products, we want them to last as long as possible! One of my favorite tips is to work off the back of your hand. Squirt a little product on the back of your hand, then use your brush to apply. Remember to make sure your brush is laying flat against your face for this step. Then work the product through your forehead and down the center of your face. One of the key factors for flawless foundation coverage is in the blending. Take a step back throughout the process to make sure you have an even application. This is always a great time to touch up any areas of your face with what’s left on your brush. Just don’t add more product to the brush – no one looks good with too heavy of a foundation finish!
4. LIP LINER SELECTION AND APPLICATION IS KEY
When selecting a shade, choose the liner that’s in the same color family as your lipstick. Line your lips starting at the corner of your mouth on one side working up to the bow of the lip. Repeating the same process on the other side. The bottom lip is key to achieving fullness. Staying on the outer line of your lip, start on the bottom and work your way to the center. Repeat the same process on the other side. Once your lips are lined, fill in your pout with the lipstick color of your choice. Again, select lipstick and lip liner share in the same color family. Take a step back and admire that sultry pout. The goal is to have perfectly kissable lips that make you feel beautiful. If you want to take it one step further for fuller smoochable lips, go over your lip liner just a bit and add a super shiny gloss over the top. Your lips are now completely irresistible! 5. USE A BROW POWDER
When using a brow powder keep in mind – less is more. Start by taking just a small amount of the powder onto an angled brow brush. Then, approach the brow at the arch and work your way back to the center and move evenly throughout the rest of the brow. Repeat the same motion starting at the arch and work down to the end of the brow to the end of your eye. Be sure to brush the formula evenly to provide the most natural look.
